Crit'Air cert

I’ve got mine, although come to think of it, I’m an Irish citizen these days, thank God. Slightly concerned the Brit MOT inspector will remove it or fail the car next month, as it’s in the required place. There is an exemption for government stickers that don’t materially affect your view, but we’ll see…

I’m really confused now! I had no idea that Irish (or, for that matter, wider EU citizenship) had any bearing on Crit’air legislation. Please tell more…

It was raised in another thread that during a non-French MOT inspection, the garage incorrectly removed a valid crit’air sticker from the windscreen despite it not being located in a place that blocks vision.

I was replying to a comment asking if the Brits knew they needed one, Brian.

Clearly we will have to agree to disagree on the question of Boris Johnson’s moral character, but on a purely factual basis, the enquiry into “Partygate” was voted for in Parliament without a single objection from any MP; the majority of the members of the committee are Tory MPs, and Harriet Harman offered to recuse herself as chair of the committee in relation to some social media comments she made but was told to carry on by the Government, who were clearly quite happy with her chairing the enquiry.

So there is no question of it being a “Labour witch hunt” or “stitch up”. Boris lied to the public, lied to Parliament, and then lied to the committee about his lies to Parliament.

Yes - started by me - and for those who don’t wish to trawl the forum for that slightly long-winded discussion (!) it was essentially down to an over-zealous MOT tester and my car being a VW Passat whose windscreen wipers sweep further into the corner than most cars.

I now have a Honda Accord and have managed to find a nice segment of dirty windscreen in the lower right hand corner for my Crit’Air sticker which the last MOT bloke (not the same one!) was happy to ignore!

I just came across this cautionary tale…
Beware of fraudulent sites selling Critair vignettes.

Which is why I put the correct site on, a few days ago…

And here is a thing - if/when you do apply for your critair cert, DO make sure you input a correct immatriculation number……

The certificate - clearly stated on the website - will be sent to the address on the Carte Gris.

So, yes, I have just paid for a certificate for the chap or chapess one registration before mine

“il pense donc à renouveler sa vignette achetée l’an dernier et qui arrive prochainement à expiration”

Crit’Air stickers don’t expire

The scamee doesn’t look too bright alright.

(maybe my aversion to wearing a baseball cap backwards might be clouding my natural sympathetic disposition :face_with_hand_over_mouth:)

Just been onto the Crit’air site to get a certificate for our elderly Chrysler. It has an old reg number. ie NNNN LL 47 and the site won’t accept it. Any suggestions please as to what to do? Thanks.

Oops

At least it is not too expensive, hope that whoever it is is grateful

Service public is supremely unhelpful! Yes you complete a section of your V9 for préfecture but as a consequence have to change your number plate

Thanks Jane. Managed to do our merc, which is even older, but we sold it to someone for scrap and he restored it and we missed it so much we bought it back from him, by which time it had a new number plate.
So if we need to go into the centre of Bordeaux it will have to be in the merc.

An interesting point, as the van I just purchased is critair 2 and already had a sticker. However, it is rather difficult to actually see the 2 now due to the fading caused by the sun. I was assuming that if the car is critair registered, this didn’t actually matter, as any checks were cross referenced with a database, or am I being overly optimistic on this???

I think it’s the “thingy” which can be zapped by a machine… which is the important bit… rather than the colour… (hope so, anyway… )
