determination.
Yes they made their own luck.
Oh there will be casualties by the score and not only wedding venues and gites and Partly the agencies
who broker their rooms and product.
Boris and his stubborn ill thought out ideas will be one of the reasons for dissaster. He and his Tories fuelled this Brexit thing which has destroyed UK.
The super rich will do well from this by picking up broken businesses for peanuts. Huge corps likewise.
Barely know why people will need to holiday as the world is covered by the same multinational coffee, food, elecrical chains.
You have only quoted the bottom half of the information page… the bit you have omitted mentions the need for a legal marriage to take place… before the wedding celebration at the chateau…
French MUST marry at their Mairie… and can then do as they like by way of celebration
For foreigners there are 2 possibilities…
-
You marry legally in another country
and then have the wedding celebration at the Wedding Venue/chateau in France -
You marry legally at the Mairie of the commune where one of you has spent 30 days as resident in France.
and then go straight off (or a later date) to the Wedding Venue/chateau for the wedding celebration…
Might be worth checking with Mr S, when things are more settled.
Who was is who said “the harder I work the luckier I get”? Seems like it might have been Sam Goldwyn.
Or, Arnold Palmer *The more I practice the luckier I get".
No such thing as “luck” but sheer blood sweat and tears and a willingness to always find the good in any scenario.
There is a profound wisdom in the way they approach their lives and much laughter.
Chance, as they say, favours the prepared mind.
Well courage by the bucket load is needed too.
Not everyone would find such happiness in living in a crumblin chateau.
My friend in the next village loves wine food and adventure and she has been there
for one of their daily visits with lunch etc and looks at returning.
The power of TV is dynamic but not everyone feels comfortable in he role of
host in view.
The Strawbridges are no fools and even though their wedding business would have suffered this year they’ll have his army pension to fallback on plus they’ve done various tv shows and magazine interviews and they’re due to launch their own tv channel next year.
Amazing
No one for one min is suggesting that they are fools.
Can you imagine the repair bills on the property …wiz .
Do you know anything about the tv channel please.
very interesting
I haven’t heard anything about a broadcast TV channel old style per se, If it’s this, their new online concept ‘the salon’, it basically seems to be like their own version of Patreon, or the like. You pay a monthly subscription and get access to exclusive content, behind the scenes videos, updates, live interactive Q&As, how to guides, that sort of thing, if they’re modelling on Parton often you get things like exclusive zoom calls and can chat with the creators. Just another way for them to generate income and for you and I to get a much more in-depth and behind the scenes look at life at the chateau, and in a more interactive way than an hour long tv show could ever give. But perhaps this is not what is being referred to.

Oh seen that.
Just good marketing
marketing is vital at the moment in order to move forward in certain fields
Do any one now if the show airs on any French channels
perhaps in 20 years or so it might have some historical significance to le français
I don’t think so - there is a lot of varied stuff from OK to rubbish on French TV but I am not sure watching foreigners being foreign, getting pseudo-married and probably oohing and aahing at our quaintness etc is really our sort of thing.
Thats true, the french would rather watch fabulous old buildings fall down and buy themselves a soulless euro box to live in.
or flog them off at way over market price to unsuspecting dreamers to sink their hard earned cash into
Since they are only interested in the UK market I think it unlikely. Their kids speak French, and he does a fair bit but not sure about her.
if you’ve ever browsed the Meriméé database you’d see that is far from the case. Most of these so-called chateaux seem to me be of little architectural value.
what is a so called Chateaux David
I am wary of entering the murky waters of these debates that I see on this forum for fearof sharks. But I would like to mildly remind John that France did a full survey of its architectural heritage and decided what to list for preservation on the basis that there are limits and not every nice old building can or should be preserved. It has ensured that what it considers the best examples of each period / sty le etc will be protected. If an individual want to save other examples that is up to them. But to make out that France lets building fall down at random Is disingenuos. It has a tight and comprehensive national programme of preservation in place.
