Halloumi cheese

Quite often when they do their “specials” you have to look elsewhere in the store other than where you would expect to find it. Halloumi cheese with other cheeses? No way, they put it with the other Greek stuff that is only in for that week. So you may have to hunt around.

I’m down to my last box so I may have to return to Aldi. If the shelves are full, I’ll take 6 boxes this time :scream::rofl::woman_facepalming:t2:

I don’t know if Aldi are doing it next week but Lidl certainly are - do you have one anywhere near? (I stocked up in both places… :scream: )

I have one of each 10 minutes from home and another of each 25 minutes away. I resisted doing LIDL as well as ALDI last time because there was plenty available in Aldi. The tourists will hit in a few weeks time though and anything like that won’t last 5 minutes. Given the long shelf life of halloumi, I can get quite a bit and then ask my neighbour to give me one pack a week so I don’t eat it all

I can’t see it in the Aldi catalogue so it looks like it’s just Lidl this time. I won’t be getting any because I was just a teeny bit greedy last time
Sounds like you have a very understanding neighbour!

Your last box? Didn’t you say you took 6? It’s been what… 9 days?

@toryroo the computer says yes at Bergerac!
Looking closer the Halloumi has mint added, not sure if that is good  for you cheese lovers?

We thought that too, Lily, which is why we bought the Aldi one as well in case we didn’t like it. My partner came to the conclusion
a) that it didn’t taste in any way different from what we were used to in the UK and certainly no mint flavour and
b) it might explain why “normal” halloumi we have bought in the UK previously had little black specks in…

Wendy, said it does freeze so that could be an option.
I knew a lady who kept her chocolate in the freezer, so she could control consumption.

No I took 3 boxes and I’ve got one left. I said I’ll be taking 6 next time but only if the shelf is full, otherwise it’s not fair on anyone else.

I bought 6 in tlidl the other week (5 still in the freezer), couldn’t find any in Aldi.
I’ll eat it anywhichway, can’t resist a little straight from the pack as I’m cutting it up, grilled with a rocket salad, baked aubergine with halloumi and couscous are favourites.

I am to be congratulated on my restraint. There was halloumi in LIDL but not a vast amount, so I took just the two packs. #iamanangel :innocent::innocent::innocent:

Congratulations.
Few would be so selfless.

You can go back for more on Wednesday according the the website! If the ones you had were left over from the previous week, there can’t be thatmany halloumi fans in your area!

Didn’t see it in my closest Lidl today, I may need to go to Bergerac!

Still haven’t found this elusive cheese anywhere around here, beginning to think it’s a myth

Given the masses of tourists that have arrived, I wouldn’t be so sure. There are actually a lot of Brits in the area but I only know 2 of them :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

It’s due to hit the Lidls nationwide on Wednesday so have a look there - not in the usual shelves, in their chiller for “this week only” stuff.

@toryroo - you went too early! Not due in until Wednesday…

Bought six in our Lidl (22)10days ago (22) …so much there I think they must have had it delivered by container… as still lots left today so bought more…they won’t have any more till next spring.
A thought…they have American week, Italian week, Spanish week Greek week …and others, but never a British week, (not that we’re bothered) but does that tell you something !!

Don’t have a Lidl here, think the nearest is about 50k away
