no, Shaun, it's about average, just jealous of your 150€ a year! In our last place we were at a total (taxe d'habitation et foncière) of 2400€ a year :-O (having said that I also had a small place in the same town and paid only 10% of that!)

Hi Greg, go to your local caisse tresorerie and take your bill plus your notice of prelevements mensualise set up letter with you. They should be able to transfer it over. I had the situation where they were taking monthly payments but not allocating them to the right account...then in January they handed me 350 euro back. It took me 3 years to sort it out...in the end was done by visiting the office in person (not the tax office but the payments office who deal with the money side).
