Logs (again)

I heard a wonderful story of a man who was 99 still planting trees. That’s what I want to do. Trees are not just for us but future generations.

You don’t get the land, just the right to cut down specific trees on that plot that year. Many communes own small woodlands/forests, which have a management plan overseen by ONF, and local people can for a modest fee get their wood from trees destined to be felled.

Short rotation coppice for use in a biomass boiler most likely

In Germany, one can/could get an authorisation from the forestry commision to forage for wood on the forest floor, I have loaded many a good amount of wood like this. Used to cost 10DM and was valid for a year and a particular section. Another way would be to speak to the logging companies and see if one can pick up what their machines doesnt want.

my annual order of 16 stere of seasoned oak arrived yesterday but I shan’t be moving it to the log store until the temperature drops.
