New declaration required for property owners

@billybutcher can probably fix it…

Which post was it. I can lock the revisions on SF (but they remain visible to moderators and admin staff) but don’t forget I can’t do anything about 3rd party trawlers and caches.

Done (I think).

I didn’t understand any of that, Larkie, but it prompted me to go back to the ‘impots.fr’ pages and look again at the property declaration.

The bit of my brain that understand things on Tuesday mornings in Feb did twig how the declaration works and I duly polished off the two that were on the slate. Jus’ like that.

Having blacked out my address on the advice of @graham last time, I had a look at other details, like the one re posting the photo of my ex-digs and found that the marker on the map showing my whereabouts is slap in the middle of Torigni-s-Vire, which I moved out of 13 months ago. I couldn’t see how to amend it. Correction: neurons still working. Location amended.

Better quite while I’m ahead

I did Chris, and it’s been fixed.

I didn’t understand any of that -

My apologies Captain, perhaps my post was a bit brief and too jocular.

You had posted a document showing your address, which you then amended, so though you may not have been worried too much, you did black it out.

So when I tested it, (as I do, IT security being my job) and saw I could see your address I thought I’d better alert you as you probably did want it redacted.

As Graham said, the original post with the address is now gone!

Hope that helps, cheers.

@captainendeavour for future reference Chris, what you should do is delete the relevant post (which will self destruct in 24 hours) and repost it with the info you don’t want to share redacted. That will be the best plan.

Crikey! what do you @graham and @larkswood12 have for breakfast!

Or is it like my old flatmates back in '69/70, cleaning the place up - a couple of dexis to get the job done, a couple of mandies to come down and the rest of the day chilling with ‘Bless It’s Pointed Little Head’ [Jefferson Airplane] and some home grown. :star_struck:

A new aphorism, ‘Better quite, than quitting’. Like it! A very genteel, very English level of sensible, but sustained and discreet moderate behaviour.

Not like those all those flashy foreign Johnnies who either go to excess, or give up too easily…

OTOH, still have my 1969(?) Spanish(!) vinyl of BIPLH.

I have a pool house which was described as a summer kitchen by the estate agents. I wrote to Tax office who said I should tick secondary residence .

Do that and you’ll be paying taxe d’habitation on it. Do you do so at the moment?

I am just wondering what French word you used for “pool house” . Translated carelessly it could easily sound like a little house by the pool!

Cabane (nne) de piscine might suffice. Check which is the right ending though for cabane.

Looking to increase revenue, hardly a surprise.

I wouldn’t do that! It’s an abri du jardin.

Tax office in my personal secure message space. Abri du jardin is not an option. You have to click on one of the alternatives.

Haven’t paid Tax d’hab some several years

I think that’s the point? Declare that part of the property as a Maison Secondaire and that bit at least may well become eligible for it, as all second home owners have to pay, no if’s or but’s. Your main ‘building’ will still be exempt, but the pool house may well not because of that classification. You’d effectively be saying that your home is your main home, then you go out and move into the pool house for a holiday :joy: You’d hope it wouldn’t be seen like that, but who knows, you tick that box so that’s what you’ve said in effect.

Exactly. We have never paid taxe d’habitation on our gite (which is at the bottom of the garden) until this last December. It is now been classified by the tax office as a “maison secondaire” - we really have no need to stay in it, as it is at the bottom of the garden - we paid and are now fighting to get the money back.
