Rather a shame that so much time and thought was wasted giving well meaning advice but irrelevant advice as it now emerges, and that a few misunderstandings arose along the way.
How there was ever even any question of an inactive visa in this scenario, is a place I will not go, but hopefully the way forward is now clear.
My original idea was to move to France and work remote and look to close down my UK business then seek part-time or freelance work and semi-retire. Hence why the original ask about moving and working remote until I could get the move permanent.
But if this is so far from what I can expect and will cause me any issues then the next best option is to open up a business in France and get agreement to continue my current work I do.
So thank you all for the valuable advice given to me here it seems the best option would be to seek the advice of experts including lawyers and setup the business in France as part of my move.
Is there such a thing as a 12+ month visa? I thought for more than a 6 month stay the visa only had limited lifetime and during that time the applicant had to register as a resident to be issued with a CdS that was renewable every year.
The very site that I have recommended throughout this thread. My confusion is possibly because Iâm more up to date on the Spanish visa situation and there most of the visas have a life of three months during which the next stage needs to be initiated. My friends who got a visitorâs visa for France opted for a six month visa which was much less complicated than the longer ones.
Technically all VLS-TS are 12-month visas BUT on the application form there is an option to do either a â6 to 12 monthsâ or a â12+ monthâ (itâs in French obviously so â12 mois ou plusâ). Itâs only the 12+ month option that is compatible with one getting into French healthcare (social security) and that can be renewed into a residence permit the other doesnât allow that so the â6 to 12 monthâ one can only be ârenewedâ from abroad
