Ah! Sorry. I agree about the danger/risk of self diagnosing.
I can now also better see your point regarding ‘keeping people away from doctors’ being an ill-thought-through Starmer statement but am not reading enough to know if it is really a pattern.
I’m possibly too reluctant to condemn Sir Keir and the Labour Party because without any strong alternative to the Tories, what hope is there?
Yes, “alternative” treatments used to be fully reimbursed but I gather that was cut back in recent years. And presumably reflexology is technically still “alternative”?
I did a lot of reflexology in the mid 80s before coming to France .
What I found was that all people treated except one had some kind of reaction, not always positive but a reaction all the same.
The one ‘failure’ reported to me was on a man paralyzed from the waist down. Maybe hand reflexology would have had a reaction ?
Interesting.
where did you practice?
I think that reflexolgy is a natural form of a scan showing that there is a problem in that location.
why did you give it up?
Long story Ollie, I retrained as a chiropodist just because I found it interesting and found it a complete change to what I was doing. My wife gave birth to our son, I gave up my full time job so she could go back into teaching which earned us a lot more money and I did chiropody part time. I learned reflexology with an organisation in London, qualified and incorporated it in my chiropody job. I never charged for it but did it to try to help people. I gave it up when we moved to France in the late 80s. I tried to practice in France but my UK qualifications weren’t accepted by the French system at that time.
I am a Reiki Master Practitioner and I took a course in Refloxology. I found that it less responsive for me than Reiki. Both are forms of energy medicine as is Acupuncture.
For me I can feel pain and also know know when something emotional is coming.
I always told my clients that Reiki was always for their good, but if something became too much to tell me and I would break off.
I trained in London with Tony Porter when he was running the International Institute of Reflexology. It would have been about 1984 ish. He is still going, here is his site. It also explains his work records.
Clever chap.
Depends. When providing a soothing foot rub then it usually feels good but some times when treating a specific problem can cause bruising, depending on how much treatment is given in one session.
Many people feel sick after. This can usually be avoided if the person being treated drinks a glass or two of water.
Different folks different strokes.
