PM out of hospital

You have to think about the impact his being very seriously ill would have on the country and internationally.

I think it seems quite usual to imply it is not too serious.

It would have created additional worry and a currency fall, perhaps a stock market fall. Hence I think the reason they did it.

I think they want him out of the office environment and properly recovering, hence staying in Chequers.

If he’d been in Downing St I suspect he would have been far too tempted to get involved in things too quickly.

Yes, he was much worse than they were saying

Daft isn’t it that they didn’t feel they could be honest (just for once).

It does seem. A little contradictory also to head to his 2nd home to recover when so many are being prevented from doing so. I say 2nd home as it is the house he stays in less and therefore is not his primary residence.

In theory, yes - in practice there is evidence that the government is making it harder than it needs to be to get settled status and many will fall through the cracks.

It is also pretty clear that (eg) health care assistants, porters etc would be unlikely to get enough points to come here after transition.

But you are right - I probably should have added “if she can” to the end of my last sentence.

I don’t think the site is intentionally left wing, although it is populated with individuals who for the most part have an inherent sense of balance and fair play - since these don’t tend to be Tory qualities, at least not in the present government, I suppose it seems left wing by comparison.

I think the forum is anti Brexit, which as Brexit is a Conservative thing tends to push it to the left

Thank you so much! Nobody has called me that since I was about 15 and used to go out dressing like Madonna. Thanks again, it’s made my evening!!

Likewise - but I do like honesty which seems to be very lacking in this government - the approach of Johnson & Cummings to try an get Brexit through Oct - Dec 2019 was absolutely appalling. Due to the lies given so far I cannot support this government.

I used to vote Tory but never again.
I cannot vote Labour at the moment, but who knows now that Jeremy Corbyn has gone.
The Lib Dems have messed it up yet again.
There are so many people who really do not know where to vote as the Tories have become so right wing and Jeremy Corbyn and Momentum have taken the Labour Party so far to the left.
I do not think that politics will be the same after covid, as Boris’ grand spending plans for the North have gone west!

That’s right, he was at death’s door because he heroically carried on working like Stakhanov pretending he wasn’t ill after all, refusing to take up space in a hospital in case someone else needed it, diced with death in intensive care, as he says “it could have gone either way” then got so much better so much quicker than anyone else, up and about and off to bird-watch at Chequers 24 hours after coming out of the ICU purely because of his superior physical and moral qualities.

Come off it.

Being ill, seriously or not, doesn’t suddenly grant absolution to someone for their misdeeds, lies, wilful wrongdoing, obfuscation and general ghastliness.

No, it was lying, for political gain and manipulation.

You’re not being fair Anne. Your views are not unwelcome and you are in no danger of being banned as long as you are reasonably polite.

You don’t have to watch your words here, but personal insults are usually flagged (referred to the moderating team for a test against the terms and conditions).

It’s important to us that you express yourself, this is not an "echo chamber’, and we need to embrace views that conflict with our own.

My view of President Trump’s recent decision to withhold funding to the international health agency, the WHO, is that it is, and he personally is also, an abomination. I look forward to the day when the world is rid of him, he is a blot on humankind.

You won’t be ‘kicked off’ for having an opinion here @Annej2003 it’s the way you express it that matters. It’s been a while since I’ve needed to remind anyone of the one rule we have here but here it is for your perusal.

Many thanks as I had not seen that.

I really hope others are aware of it as well though as I have found some comments on here shocking.

Shocking comments are not against the rules here, as long as you present them in a civil and polite manner.

Avoid ad hominem attacks and use the flag feature when you see them so I can deal with them please.

I confess to being pleased when ANYONE survives this bastard of a virus. Please do not stoop to wishing it upon ANYBODY. And just be very thankful you yourself have not gone down with it. Life is way, way more important than politics, however strongly you hold your views.

I am happy for Boris Johnson that he has recovered and I earnestly hope that my sister-in-law is as fortunate.

Stay safe.

What a disgusting comment wishing someone dead.

You talking about Macron no doubt.

So, we manage to clear up one member who got it all wrong only to find another has crawled out of the woodwork…
