Should I be paying French tax?

I still have my Winnie the Wombat (original) … a favourite story from early childhood…

(now that really IS thread drift… :rofl: )

I could easily have gone with that one! :smiley:

Thank you!

No I did not know about their cubic poos!

Or the worst thread-drift ever.
I’ve been on the Connexions website, instead.Hopefully I’ll get some wombat-free wisdom on there!

I got more sense when I posted a question about making a garden pond. The response to that was magnificent! Newts 'an all!

When you completed your last French tax return, did you state the date when you left France?
If not, expect questions when you submit your next return.

Connexions is notorious for incorrect information. Always cross-check.

Before long there are likely to be joined up records regarding immigration and residency. CdS will soon be registered on each entry and exit to France. It is likely that long periods of absence by those claiming, upon presenting a CdS, to be resident in France will eventually be flagged.

There may be no tax due but visa avoidance might be a question. May also be tricky to explain presenting a resident’s CdS for a traffic stop/accident while driving a rental car using UK license.

What may happen to elderly British passport holders is unlikely to be severe but I for one would prefer to await the news rather than be the news. ‘Honi soit…’ and all that.

Sadly, I did :open_mouth::stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Will resist the temptation to ask how you found out…

He’s referred to in our house as Ebenezer Spunk-Trumpett.

An excellent and most appropriate alias.

@CJWJ
I’ve just reread the thread and, frankly, the question you asked was answered rather swiftly by @JaneJones (or am I dreaming)

subsequently the CdS situation was discussed…

And a rather pleasant dinner party chatter followed on… :rofl: :+1:

Indeed, throwing my toys out of my pram and swanning off to another site isn’t how I’d have said “thank you” to those who so quickly answered the original question.

I read ARS a lot as there is a good variety of science and tech articles on there. Shame about the name though.

I don’t think wombats are quite big enough… “sh%t a Lego” perhaps? :slight_smile:

Famous for Facebook journalism and about as reliable as a Russian watch.

I was being “tongue in cheek”; my question was quite well responded to,I don’t deny it.

Emojis are useful for that, if you want people to catch on.

As you have had comprehensive replies, are you now going to tell us all, did you apply for your WARP carte de sejour in good faith, and not get it by devious means?
