So.... are you expecting riots tonight?

Thanks Karen,

Unfortunately, it’s a little bit more tangled, as we have a SIRET number, so can declare the income (which was my main concern) but our problems are with URSAAF the artist’s guild, who are trying to claim all sorts of payments on various erroneous bases - eg. they want several thousand € for 2021, even though the ‘enterprise’ didn’t commence until 1//1/2022.

A basic pension yes but not the add ons if you don’t live there.

Apologies @graham , I meant no re the purpose of this site. Not your input !

Is it with URSAFF or the maison des artistes? Different bodies.

But raises an interesting question viv à vis proposed changes to retirement. At the moment there is the system of cumul emploi-retraite, so can continue to work and take pension. If people are doing this at 55 then could be ok contributing as reckon will be on planet long to benefit. But at 67?

Also, with economic position people would be much less happy to accept ‘ fonds perdu ‘ like your partner.

Hmmm

But in our case difficult to separate them we arrived at URSAff via the Maison des artistes, the latter appears to have supplied the former with erroneous info, but neither will acknowledge the error.

Watch URSSAF, they take your money first with estimated amounts usually a year before you earn anything and then refund when they are ready Spent many years arguing the toss with them overcharging us and taking over a year to pay it back whilst we went without.

Thanks very much for that, particularly the ‘estimate’ bit.

Never sign up to pay via direct debit. In theory you are supposed to be able to adjust the amounts you pay according to earnings.

Thanks - more good advice!

Oh dear. Seems like this unfairness will be hard to escape. I guess there isn’t a décret or something you could quote to tell them to push off? And I’m sure you’d have covered it if an S1 should protect you from the social charges concerned.

Actually we cited it in some detail in yesterday’s letter and are awaiting a reply. As far as I’m concerned providing we have a SIRET no. to include in the next tax return and pay anything that’s not covered by the S1, then I think we’re covered.

No sign of things calming down yet?

Tomorrow will be a big day for donning the gilets jaunes.

The opposition parties are using this to create trouble but they aren’t offering any alternative counterproposals. Looks angry but will probably wave and shout for a bit longer and then get back to more pressing concerns of daily life.

Retirement for many is distant and two years more is not five or seven. People are at heart pragmatic. FWIW, I see this calming down before the summer break.

Exactly. While using discontent as leverage.

Macron is quite a wise businessman. He will quell the discontent by offering the electorate some alternative compromises. I can’t imagine what form these will take but we’ll see. Perhaps in May :blossom:

No, the Easter holidays are coming up. Nobody protests in France during holidays.

That is what he is banking on….,excuse the pun.

I’m still waiting for the riots to start. The pain au chocolat in Leclerc looked seriously burnt this morning and i thought some old dear was going to kick off with the baker, but alas she calmed down and life carried on. A friend in Rennes was sending me some good fiery photos from her balcony in the city centre, but burnt pastries is the most people have been getting excited about round here to date,
