Eh? We have all the strikes in May, that miraculously seem to create bridges on Public Holidays, or are adjacent to them, to look forward to as well.
The stated issue may change from year to year but miraculously the timing doesn’t

I get a lovely long weekend for my birthday this year, no striking necessary
I see Charlie is getting some stick for his ‘ill timed’ visit to France starting Sunday, apparently they can’t find any strikers willing to help with the visit.
I’m glad I filled up with diesel last night, the local stations have all run out of fuel today.
We reached our little local garage at 11:30 to use our allotted limit, just as they were putting up a paper to say closing midday. No more fuel!
Fair enough. For strikes to work we should all hurt a little.
We’re planning to come over in 4 weeks time. Not that I’m so important, but I do hope this all blows over by then.
My partner is meant to fly back to Scotland on Monday, it might not happen or she might be there longer than she planned
That’s ‘not ideal’
It won’t be the first time flights have been cancelled or stays have been extended, you get used to it
If flying, make sure you can easily manage all your own luggage. There may be baggage handlers strike and they are known to sometimes ‘hide’ trolleys
Anyway…back to riots…there is certainly is one today in Paris
Nice to see my taxes are being spent well.
No violence but big manifestation in Auxerre this afternoon.
No demos today in La Roque Bouillac, but I did see a neighbour walking his dog…
According to my daughter who walked home from work in the 2ème via the crèche in Barbès there are loads of ghastly people in and out of uniform all over the lace, desperate for a bit of violence. So tedious.
We don’t even have local farmers cos there aren’t any farms, just lots of trees, cliffs and a river, but I believe there’s occasional quine in some of the nearby villages - we didn’t settle in la France profonde for extreme excitement!
Our farmer neighbour is saving his diesel and is protesting in situ. He has a tricolour waving on the front of his tractor.
Bordeaux town hall set on fire in France pension protests
And was the dog wearing a gilet jaune?
Gosh!
I’m all for civil protest but really regret destruction of historic and beautiful property.
If they do decide to go ahead with the UK royal visit, I can recommend they cordon off the Tuileries area entirely. He would enjoy a tour of the Louvre and possibly a little walk (or maybe Pope mobile) voyage to see Monet’s dreamy Nymphéas collection at Musée de l’Orangerie.
Brit Ambo must be wringing her hands in anxiety
