Thank you… This is what I was sort of presuming… I realise that what may seem a ’small’ pension in the UK can be very comfortable in France (no complaints from me here!)… but accept it may incur whatever tax the French deem correct… and I always stick to the rules - just don’t like mistakes!!! Really appreciate your input…
UK state pension is taxable mine has just reached that point for the 2024/5 tax year. (pension minus tax allowance now results in a negative figure which is added to my taxable income.)
It’s the same for UK exportable disability benefits. A few years ago the UK government lost a court case where they were saying that the PIP DLC component wasn’t exportable. The OH was affected and this meant she was paid 3 years worth of back dated PIP DLC in 2023 which had to be declared this year. Although it wasn’t taxable in France (according to our impots) it was still added to our taxable income to calculate the tax rate on the tax we did pay.
If you mean taxed in France, all I can say is that I was advised on here to put it in a separate box, which I have done for Fran’s for several years. It made no difference to me either way, we still didn’t get taxed wherever I put it.
