KFG? (Korean)
David, I think it was the bit about frying the wichetties and slugs that got to me. Oh, it sounds so awful. And to be honest, I’m sure lots of us have swallowed those little black flies that are around at the moment, perhaps without realising we’ve done so.
I do hope you don’t think I was taking a dig at you. It’s the last thing on my mind. Love from Rachel xx
Brian, this wasn’t at Coober Peedy. This was another B-I-L in Adelaide.
Hello @toryroo - Stirling is a small town in the Adelaide Hills. It’s very much like the UK insofar as it’s very wet so its good for vegetation and trees. It was a lovely area, not too hot.
Long story short - we were going to emigrate there and as I mentioned it was not the right time, but when we (my ex and I) were ready, the rules on emigration had changed and his work category was not one that qualified us for automatic entry.
And working for BA meant that I was fortunate to say I’ve visited most countries in the world, without it costing an arm and a leg. For example, UK to Australia £60 return. UK to USA or SA £30 return - that was a wonderful perk!
But of all the places in the world I have visited, I never wanted to finish up living there. France is ideal for us (Stuart and I) in more ways than one.
Ahhh that’s why I don’t know it, I’m a NSW girl!
Wow on those prices!!!
Used to flatshare with a man from Zimbabwe and he’d fry up insects. Big cricket like things. I tried a few. They were okay. I’d try these ones too. Why not? No different to eating a prawn.
We grow up eating foods put before us by our parents, and we eat what others around us eat as we grow up. We become culturally used to the foods everyone else eats. Seafood amongst them. A prawn is so different from a large fried cricket. I’m afraid I’m in the bracket of ‘can’t teach an old dog new tricks!’
Buddy Holly would agree
Good point! I suppose I was lucky that my dad traveled all over the world and my mum was an adventurous cook back in the seventies. Her roasted centipede was a joy.
Is it? I wouldn’t know, never knowingly eaten either, do you eat all of the prawn of fiddle about to get it out of its shell? And what about the cricket, all or shelled?
Leg or breast?
Mange tout Rodney
Ha ha
I had some cricket like things in Mexico, liberally doused in chilli, I couldn’t taste much else.
It is to me! I don’t need to experiment with one beside the other to determine whether there is a difference. My imagination is enough, thank you very much. I don’t need scientific proof. This old dog won’t be eating any large fried crickets any time soon, or ever.
We certainly didn’t have to fight over the legs. Mum always said chicken meant trouble.
Perhaps try with a couple of little ones then, just to get your taste buds acclimatised.
Yes, I know, crickets are meat and therefore off the menu anyway.
Not so sure about Gates trying to reduce the population
Why would he spend billions for research into tropical diseases, vaccination programs in underdeveloped countries around the world
and education if he simply could sit back and wait for them to die?
He is one of the few gazillionaieres who with the Gates Foundation is actually dispersing his wealth instead of handing it to his kids…
