Blowing a hooley here but still clear blue skies and sunny and no rain. Its a bit colder as the snow on the mountains sends the tramontine down with that cold. My thermometer is reading 52°F at moment
No wind here temperature 34F and a few snow flakes.
Glad you are all getting this out of the way now as my next trip is for some extreme gardening mid February. I need some non wet, non snow weather.
Round our way the Vacances d’hiver which start 17th Feb are peak snow weather!
Sshhhh
On the contrary. Cloud cover, preferably 100% or what an American friend in UK called “The great grey English duvet” acts as described.
That’s why the temps in a desert can be 40C+ in daytime and -XC at night.
I think you misunderstood. I find that the cheerfulness of the blue skies enables me to endure the cold cheerfully.
Also, here in 86 it’s surprising how warm it is in direct sunlight even though the air temperature is below zero
Thats what I found so crazy, -8c first thing, wrapped up, mid morning sun in the sky shorts and T shirt, 3.30pm back to -8
Yes, I did misunderstand. And yes, direct sun is still beaming infrared. Even here in Calvados it’s worth putting washing on the line for 2-3 hrs when the sun’s out.
I had a gig once nr Aix-en-Provence in Jan. There were long icicles hanging on all the road signs at 7 am but by 10 it was T-shirts.
Even better in Valencia, where I was 3 weeks ago, tho’ setting an ice rink on Plaza Ayuntamiento when it’s 24C-26C is not VLC 's finest eco hour.
I hate this cold weather
Me too! I am definitely a summer person… in that respect (though not others) I do miss living in the Caribbean - no chance of frost!
PS Welcome to the forum!
Middle of the day and it’s 0.5C here in Correze. But it’s dry and much better. We can get outside now
I really like having seasons - all of them. Think I’d get bored living in a place that was evenly warm all year round.
Where I was in Brazil (Sao Paulo) there was some difference - winter colder / summer warmer - but not really marked seasons. I went to Argentina (Bariloche) in the autumn and it was wonderful to see the autumnal colours. I agree - 4 seasons for me too.
@ChrisMann yes me too, definitely a summer person. Btw, Thanks for welcoming
Light covering of snow here (89)
It might be nice to give it a go for a while though
I know what you mean, but in Turks & Caicos we still had seasons - dry season, wet season, hurricane season… And the temperature did vary, but it was just in the range “moderate to flippin’ hot” instead of “flippin’ cold to fairly hot”
Snowing quite heavily here now. And it’s very cold.
We’re not even that high up in the Black Mountains so further up will be interesting, although I’m not going to find out.
Talking to my son in law yesterday and he said it was pretty warm at -12°C during the day but -25°C at night so we shouldn’t moan if we get cold here. He was going to buy the bigger dog a coat today, this is Cheyenne in Wyoming by the way and as for snow, several feet can fall overnight! We have three days of heavy rain forecast at end of the week if it does materialise so need to move my car down the drive before it gets bogged down as only have clay and bulding rubble at the moment.
