I used to be the same, got over slightly when pregnant with GD and regular blood tests. Was very hairy starting my nurse training, really really got in a state. First placement had me practising on a polystyrene cooler, never got able to do a person there though! 2nd placement was in mental health, my lovely nurse sent me straight over the road to buy 2 oranges, they are surprisingly similar to getting through skin and into muscle. He then got me to give my first one on a scary, huge man who was used to his weekly injections! I still donât love doing it though, nor having them
I had five nerve blockers injected at the base of each toe, both times. The needle didnât look like an injection, more like something dad used to spray his tomatoes with that you pumped and it was done via an internal scan of my feet on a computer screen with a mouse. Had to be put out the second time round, will never complain about a jab in the arm or the thigh again after that horror.
DIL confirmed with covid yesterday after going to the walk in lab nearby and getting an immediate test. She is furious because parents donât declare to the schools or crĂȘches when they get it because they lose pay now for taking time off with no one to look after their kids and so it goes round and round in an endless circle of infections. She has little more than a nose cold but no fever or loss of appetite etc. Now I am keeping away although they did all call round wednesday afternoon for goĂ»ter but so far, so good and nothing to report in the nose, throat or fever dept.
You saw it??? You had your eyes open???
I keep my head turned away⊠and my eyes tightly closed⊠more or less holding my breath
I always apologize in advance, warn about my phobia⊠and am met with an understanding and gentle response
Oh yes I saw it, put up with it the first time but the second time, the woman looked like a gestapo torturer so told the nurse holding my hand I couldnât go through with it so she asked and got a knock out drug pumped into the canula, I donât remember a thing even now what happened.
Iâm trying to find something about âchildrenâ but this link talks about adults testing âpositifâ
Interesting readingâŠ
I was just talking to my physio as you do when someone nice is massaging your feet and he said a lot of people he had/has as clients were simply getting a head cold and nothing more but it was still being classed as Covid. Think it will eventually be something like we refer to as just the flu or the sniffles.
I already do
So people have stopped dying from COVID then.
Neighbours have a strange situationâŠ
Wife has âthe snifflesâ and tests positif for covid⊠OH also has âthe snifflesâ but tests negatif for covid.
The only reason they got tested at all was because a friend with whom theyâd spent time, fell very poorly, diagnosed with covid and receiving suitable care (although not in hospital)âŠ
This Wife (positif with covid) seems to catch everything going⊠while her OH has a stronger constitution and easily fights off most nastiesâŠ
strange how things goâŠ
I didnât say that, people will still die as they do from the flu or pneumonia especially if they are frail or immune damaged. I just think people are getting very blasĂ© now about covid and not treating it like it was at the beginning and I wore a mask both times in hospital which was horrible but I considered it protecting the doctors and nurses from the cough I had.
Have people stopped dying, no, people die of something and as I have been saying right from the start we did not have deaths from heart disease, stokes and cancers rammed down our throats everyday but those numbers dwarf covid.
Interestingly some research recently showed covid enters arterial plaque if you have it, that means it can break up the plaque which can move around the body and cause more deaths from multifactorial issues but they " had covid"
The difference being that strokes, cancer and heart disease arenât contagious.
Do you have a journal reference for that?
You have downplayed everything about COVID right from the start, wanted to catch it and been critical about itâs effects and response, yes everyone dies of something but as Gareth states strokes, cancer and heart disease arenât contagious, COVID was.
I know quite a few people that died and still suffer the effects of COVID so it wrangles with me.
I must make a point of writing down some of the references. Will try to find it again.
True, so without those being contagious they kill around 3 times more people and wasnt your point about death? Number of people lost to other causes as mentioned are still people and families but they are not important to you?
Please can we not descend into the mire⊠all deaths are importantâŠ
Now your just being facetious, flippant and condasending Corona
Maybe eventually, but we are both floored. Donât underestimate this âflavourâ.
