What filter and pump system should we be starting with?

Hi Graeme, makes sure its the AFM ng (new generation) version, nothing wrong with the old one , I have been using it for years but will be switching to the ng version.

Yes I can message you privately about the other specs.

Back to air assisted backwash. I am looking less blankly…

In essence you are saying that backwashing with a water/air mix is overall better, yes? You further say that to do this, the multi-valve needs to be moved away from the filter and a tee put into the feed pipe into the filter. So far I am happy!

Now, does the air have to be forced into the feed, or could one make a venturi with a tap, that when opened allows air to be sucked into the filter? I am probably a mile off, but show interest at least… :grinning:

I don’t think the water pressure would allow that

You are right. I was not engaging brain and see it now :sleepy:

What typically would one use to force the air into the filter? I do not see anything advertised for this procedure…

You wont, the pool industry hasnt a flippin clue. Its down to real engineers to find solutions to problems and then the see monkey do’s catch up later. It is the same with pool equipment no innovation just copy what the others do, with Dr Dryden I found a man really interested in what he does and the pool industry gave him such a hard time. Years later the effect of what he developed helps pools, aquariums and rivers in Asia to clean them up. I try hard to solve the issues to reduce the water usage and energy required, it improves the water quality, safety and pays for itself in a season or two.
