Loved the Salt Path! Is this one as absorbing?
I haven’t read The Salt Path, but it is so beautifully written and continues with Moth’s struggle with his degenerative illness.
I’ve just finished British Summer Time Begins by Ysenda Graham and I recommend it to anyone, but especially those over 50 who will remember much of it. It’s a warm, affectionate look at the middle years of the 20th century and how kids spent their summer holidays. Predominantly they seem to be just turned out of doors and told not to return until teatime (I know I was!) As a result they developed self-reliance, an interest in their surroundings and so much more. Ms Graham interviewed thousands of people (including some famous names) and this is the distillation of her findings. It’s well-written too, it just flows.
My latest love is for the Rivers of London series, by Ben Aaronovitch. If you’re a fan of fantasy books, then you might well enjoy them. I bought the first one on the off-chance that I might like it, then couldn’t put it down. So I bought the next half a dozen and absolutely loved them. Fans of Terry Pratchett and Douglas Adams would probably appreciate them.
It’s best to read them in the right order, as although each book is a complete story in its own right, there’s a bigger plot that covers the first 7 or so. Start with ‘The Rivers of London’ and go from there.
