I think if there was a competition for the best overall largish capacity bike ever that would make the shortlist. A contender for so many reasons.

I was given a Jag Mk 10 by a pal, producer of Tubby Bells. It was parked up outside his squat in Clifton Villas. I took a look. Where the front seats were s’posed to be was a lot of chunder -Technicolour Yawn as the immortal Bazza Humphries used to say.

The same pal swapped a LHD VW Variant Fastback for a Rogers amp with one channel down. The VW was lethal in the wet. I conned the g/f into driving it over Hardnot Pass.
Inevitably it sold to an Aussie couple in the days, mid 70’s, when there was a LHD car selling fest on the roads around the South Bank Arts Centres.
Some years earlier I had been given an Armstrong Siddley Sapphire. Obviously it was not a goer. We towed it, with a Morris Minor, from somewhere in mid Sussex to somewhere else some hours away and there it sat. I never saw it again.
