Your film or TV series recomendations (2021 and on TV binge)

That was advertised on the Five Star channel last night - period drama.

Yes, we enjoyed that. Shortly after it we watched something similar (but nowhere near as good sadly) on ITV called Red Eye.

Currently 2 episodes in to Sweetpea… it’s produced by the same company that made Slow Horses, but isn’t as enjoyable as that.

Next up (which might be fairly soon if Sweetpea doesn’t improve) is a BBC series called Showtrial.

I also recently saw a trailer for a show starring Harrison Ford called Shrinking which I might obtain.

A grieving therapist starts to break the rules by telling his clients exactly what he thinks.

Devil’s Hour

Any good so far? Reviews on Rotten Tomatoes look promising.

Very, though currently totally confused as to exactly what is going on (3/5 episodes of season 2 watched so far).

Season 3 has been confirmed though so I’m not expecting to be much wiser at the end of this series.

Cool, shall add it to my To Watch list. Cheers, BB.

I can give a recommendation for series 2 of that, which has just aired. I think we watched series 1 (which is not connected to the second) but have failed to retain much about it in my head.

I see that The Repair Shop is reduced now to ‘the best of’ from previous programmes. No doubt due to having to avoid showing anything without Jay Blades in due to the BBC’s over the top reaction to his alleged offences pending trial, thus unproven.

Well, I stuck with it (largely on the advice of a former member of SF who’d watched the whole thing)… very enjoyable once you get past the first 2 episodes. Looking forward to there being a 2nd series.

What’s he accused of?

I forget the exact charge but something like coercion of his ex wife, no suggestion of violent bahaviour. He denies it and is due to go to trial early in the New Year.

To ban all recordings that contain him and, in the case of his jokey workshop series with David Jason, competely off the tv, it seems way over the top to me, but is the BBC’s panic reaction to Saville and Edwards imo

Edit: Jay Blades in court: BBC presenter denies coercive behaviour

The BBC just can’t win, can they. If they do nothing, they should have sacked him immediately. If they do something, they’re over-reacting.

You are right they can’t get it right, it’s about time they did, suppressing or ignoring what everybody knew about Saville, continued paying of a man who had admitted wrong doing, and now punishing not only the man concerned but also others just because they worked with him, even though he strongly denies the charge and until he is found guilty in a court of law, is innocent.

Murder mindfully on netflix

German with english subtitles.

Don’t bother with the Joker - Folie à deux. Its so depressing and nasty to be honest unlike the first film. Phoenix looks like a living skeleton too, amazing how he achieved that.

Criminal Justice.
BBC iplayer. Second series much the best, but both with good names and good acting.

Currently watching The Hardacres. We binge watched 3 episodes on Friday night. If you like All Creatures Great and small or Downton type things you’ll like it I think!
