Any cheerful news today? (Nothing negative please! šŸ™‚)

I like making my version of Reeceā€™s peanut cups and probably more healthier as only use organic peanut butter, just a little icing sugar to take the sticky away and then good milk or plain chocolate. So much cheaper than the original version.

It doesnā€™t sound like it!

True, organic doesnt mean no palm oil and then the icing sugar.

Its Halloween, on my way the Mairieā€™s this afternoon.

Normally, summer restrictions automatically end on the 31st October. Ours were extended a few days ago to the 30th November. Have you checked Propluvia to see if the original restrictions have been extended for you as well ? Weā€™ve had quite a lot of rain here in the last few weeks, but the ground is still hard if you dig just 4 or 5 inches down.

Shhh! Iā€™ve convinced my brain and body they are better than the mass produced, only make them for xmas though!

No did not know about that site, will look later to see. The only water we are using outside is to mix the concrete for the fencing and washing the tools afterwards. I darenā€™t use water anywhere else as still a building site with compacted clay which turns into a mud bath when wet.

They will be because mass produced shop ones have many more things that you wont have added purely to extend their life in the shops.

Today is the 1st November, and weā€™ve managed to get this late in the year without using the heating :tada::+1: . The indoor temperature had not fallen below 20C first thing until today, when it was 19.7C. Weā€™ve been able to put at least 2-3 degrees on the starting temperature recently due to solar gain through the large south facing patio doors. That will now come to an end for at least 4 or 5 days. Weā€™ve also not had to put the water heater on since early May as all our hot water has come from solar.

Iā€™ve been persauded to do the Movember shave & grow by work colleagues. This makes me look somewhere between my maternal grandather and Lord Voldemort, but at least some of the girls liked it and donated (thatā€™s the good bit).

Not sure exactly where you are, but restrictions around Perpignan have been extended to 30th November, same as us.

Phew, just dodged the raindrops to deliver some choco-marshmallows to a young family who missed out on last nightā€™s village festivities.

Watching the expressions of delight race across those kidsā€™ faces when they saw what was in the box I was holding out to themā€¦ absolutely magical.

Now Iā€™m back in for the durationā€¦ or until the logs run outā€¦ whicheverā€¦

The sweet peppers and chillies are still providing fruit ā€¦ in November !
Just made another batch of pickled chillies and cut up and froze half a dozen sweet green peppers.
The Habanero chilli had already produced two crops of fruit this year, about 55 fruit in total from which Iā€™ve made two batches of hot chilli sauce and frozen the rest. It currently has a third crop of 22 fruit on it, but I donā€™t think they will turn red. I may leave them another week and then take them off. Green chilli sauce ?

Thanks for that, am near Perp but reading the paper it mentioned about restrictions being lifted but no dates. Still not really using any outside apart from the aforementioned concrete for the fence poles and cleaning the tools etc.

I was doing a bit of mind numbing filing this morning and noticed that my EDF bill was showing that Iā€™d got a 9kv supply which was a complete surprise as I thought I was on 6kv, and donā€™t even need that size due to the solar, but need that as min for tempo. Anyway, will be changing to 6kv tomorrow. Only about 45ā‚¬ saving, but better in my pocket than EDFā€™s :grinning:

I then visited a friend later this afternoon and discovered she had an 18kv supply, which totally floored me - hopefully helped her also make a bit more of a saving!

Before she changes it make sure she will never, ever need it. You canā€™t get domestic monophase 18kva now.

Thereā€™s no way sheā€™ll ever need it. Sheā€™s an elderly person living on her own in a two bedroom house.

Thatā€™s interesting. After my Linky was (force-) installed as there was close to zero notice of the arrival of the technician, who incorrectly insisted I had no right to refuse it, I noticed on the documentation afterwards that I had a 6V supply.

I was absolutely certain my other half had said we only had 3V and cautioned me not to use too many appliances at once. Not that this was necessary as Iā€™ve always been careful snd stayed around 2kW or so max at a time anyway.

I had always wondered if EDF or Engie (installers) had upped it as they wanted to install a Linky. At that time I.would certainly have refused, and told the engineer I didnā€™t want it.

What makes you think you canā€™t have a Linky with a 03KVA supply???
the cheerful news is that there is a 03KVA Linky in a property near my houseā€¦ the whole village was changed en masseā€¦ a few years back.
