Anyone missing Steve Wright?

Good evening.
Tomorrow it’s Sunday and another week without Steve’s Sunday Love Songs. I adored his mix of easy music, people being nice to each other and irreverent fun poking.
I’ve tried to get on with Michael Ball but am struggling with the soppy dedications to dogs and grandmothers who lost their struggle with cancer forty years ago today.
I’ve tried Nostalgie and Cherie FM but they don’t really hit the spot.
Is it just me? What do you listen to while preparing Sunday lunch?

Playlists on spotify and podcasts…

Can’t say I ever liked Steve Wright’s style, but I have friends who love him.

Is there nothing on Greatest Hits radio that would suit? Richard Allinson does a love songs programme on Sunday mornings at 9.0.

If I am not listening to Radio 4 it is Gold UK that is always playing, not just Sundays. I amaze myself with my aging memory not knowing where I put something 10 minutes ago yet can sing or whistle along to 90% of the songs on there.

Thanks. I’m trying that right now.

I love radio 4 too, but it doesn’t do Sunday lunch prep for me. I’ll give Gold a go, though.
Thanks for the tip

Thanks, I’ll have a look

Me too.

The brain is an extraordinary organ. You are absolutely right about songs. I can hum music from decades ago, even if I haven’t hummed it for decades.

Me too. I can remember the words to about a million songs, but also where I put that thing yesterday, that the chimney needs sweeping in August and how Mrs Miggins was rude to me in 2019. Frankly, I’m looking forward to a bit of memory loss so I can have a day off!

That really hit the spot. Thanks a million

Not since Steve Wright in the afternoon was a thing on Radio 1.

I’m really pleased. I like his voice.
