Atmospheric Pollution Warning in Saone et Loire

We were warned about atmospheric pollution yesterday and I can see it in the air this morning as the pink sky this morning was definitely blurred.
It is now a blanket grey and I cannot tell if this is mist or pollution.
Has anybody else had this type of warning?
We are also in an extremely rural area.

The article gives a link (atmo) where everyone can check their local Air Quality.

we check ours everyday… usually bon/moyen :+1:
although we had one brief period of mauvaise last summer and we stayed indoors

The link in the article seems to be only for BFC. I tried Atmo France but it looks a bit useless as it just gives a coloured dot for each large city and nothing else. What do you use ?

If you have Google Maps on your smart things and are signed in, there is an Air Quality map “layer” you can select using the same button used to switch between default/satellite/terrain views.

Tapping any point on the AQ map will give you a spot reading.

Considering just how rural that area is, I’m quite surprised.

Just checked that for the area in BFC that Atmo is showing as red, and google seems to think the air quality is good - 3 out of 10

According to this map we are in a lower pollution zone, but we can see the edge of that huge red triangle.

The coloured dot equates to pollution… red is ghastly

I’m in Nouvelle Aquitaine so I get that report daily… and enter my Commune and it gets right down to the nitty gritty

https://www.atmo-nouvelleaquitaine.org/

according to Google Maps… we have no air (be it good, bad or indifferent)  so I think we’ll stick with Atmo as that works well for us…

According to the main Atmo website, we have no air. I’ll look to see if there’s an Occitanie website.

We look at “our air” every day, it’s a habit  but just sometimes our site tells us that Our Commune does not exist

What sort of pollution is it and where is it from?

Thanks, I already found it. It has much more information than the main site, which isn’t at all difficult as it’s just three coloured dots on a map of Aude.

No exceptional reason; just the usual suspects.

The air is very still at present due to the anticyclonic conditions and the pollution is trapped in the valleys of the SaĂ´ne and Loire.

But what is it? From factories,? Big cities?

Probably peoples log burners. :frowning:

funnily enough, our area is very “log burning” and we rarely get a bad report connected to that…

perhaps our chimneys/burners are well-behaved

There are 3 major, for the region, conurbations, Chalon-sur-SaĂ´ne, Dijon and Nevers emitting the associated pollutants. Without having access to the analysis of the air of yesterday vs those of other days I cannot say. There are no specific issues reported other than static air due to high pressure resulting in the lack of air circulation which leads to an increase of localised pollution.

In this case, the solution to pollution is dilution.

There is never a report for my commune, and yes most of us use wood for heating. There are however are fewer than 200 in 26 km2.
