I got one of these, about 15 years old with only 3000 km on an English plate. Any ideas where I might try to sell it in France?
Hi Tom,
Any idea of the price you are looking for?
Tom a word of caution with the DVLA contact, the regulations now require you to either
A) Have the bike registered and insured.
B) Put the bike on an annual SORN notice that is is off the road and not being used.
C) As Glen mentioned declared on the V5 that the bile has been exported.
There are fines for not doing B) & C) I know this because I had to pay them, from memory it is around £50 to £80 per year.
Vic is also right about the paperwork needed to get the bike registered in France as I just went through this for my Triumph Speedmaster, it took over a year and cost around €650 in the end, including changing the headlight by an authorised dealer, and getting Triumph France to re-issue a European Cert of Conformity with the correct headlight details (its shown in the code used) and cost a fortune.
Again like Vic I started to lose the will to live over the process.
Regards
Peter
Good luck with the immatriculation in France. They made me jump through hoops with my Jap. import 1981 Honda Cb 750 custom even though I had all the correct paperwork from England. It was 24 years old at the time & I later found out I could have waited another few months & obtained a "carte gris moto de collection"
The details on the CG are still not correct but by the time they issued the paperwork I had virtually lost the will to live & would have accepted anything as long as I got the CG.
Dear Tom,
What is the UK registration status, it is current or on-hold or lapsed?
Best Regards
Peter
