Since moving on [geographically] from playing jazz drums I have reverted to what I have been all my life - a noodling sitting room guitarist. I bought a bass because I thought it was the thing to do - mess around in the bass, knock out the bass riff in ‘Money’ [Pk.Fl] or The Chain [F.Mac]

But a set like that Yamaha might get me back into drumming. My acoustic set was Yamaha with gorgeous old Zildjian cymbals. I do miss it.

Yup. I have a '96 Strat Plus Deluxe - the one with Gold [neck] Silver [mid] Red [bridge] Lace pickups. I’ve had two plain vanilla Plus’s [Gold/Gold/Gold]. I had to keep selling these things, going broke

That sounds Fabulous - never played a plus. Bought my fave Strat in '89 although it was made in Japan in '86. Played about 30 instruments before picking that one, it’s just so resonant and responsive. Badly needs a refret now, which is awkward on a maple neck. I’ve a couple of MIM versions (one bought in the US, one came as a basket case) plus a MIJ body and neck.
