having worked as an AE for over 15 years, it is time to wind down. I will keep my gite business running but would like to start receiving my state pension in parallel. Does anyone know the procedure as to how to start the ball rolling?
Where do you pay your cotisations? RSI? CIPAV? You start with your caisse…
Or do you mean your UK state pension? If so you just ring them up!
As @JaneJones has pointed out, you need to get in touch with the caisse de retraite that took your pension contributions.
that’s good advice Jane. It is the RSI.
thanks
This should tell you what you need to know
this looks like an excellent resource, thanks I will plod my way through it.
This may sound stupid, but I am still unclear as to what defines retired. I want to collect now, any pension I have accrued, but continue working as an AE renting out my gite. So I want my retirement pension, but do not want to retire. Does that make sense?
I think in which case, and others will correct me, you can close your AE business and as long as you earn less than €23,000 from your gite, and less than half your income comes from your gîte, you can carry on as a non-professional and just declare earnings
You can easily find out how much you’ll get from this site -
Just create an account using your SS number and a password.
Hi Jane, nobody did correct you - or confirm - but what you say makes sense to me.
I am worried that if I close the business and officially retire, then sometime in the future wish to do as you have outlined, they may demand that I re register as a business and go through all that training. I would love to hear what others think
cheers

@geoff_faulkner did you take a look at the link supplied by @tim17
there must be an official site/office/something where a worker can get advice…
I know a French farmer who had to go through several hoops to achieve retirement and he must have been advised by someone “official”
