It is - the 63% is the initial figure -if you include appeals the overall total is at least 80%
In 2022 there were 75000 applications, while high compared with the previous few years (not forgetting numbers were low in 2020 and 2021 because of Covid) this is dwarfed by the number seeking refugee status in Germany (almost 300k)and France (just shy of 180k) or even Spain (128k) (source).
And this matters because? Seriously, you could not have marked yourself out as intolerant of the “not home grown” more obviously other than by having an avatar which would be banned in Germany.
I wonder how cheap you would think a daughter’s life if it were your own? This and the comments you made in reply are really quite offensive.

Yes - my nephew was born in Balleymoney while my sister and BIL were living in NI, and he would qualify for an Irish passport if he chose to apply for one.

As a small country Ireland is struggling a bit but at least they’re not threatening people with to Hell or to Rwanda (reference Ulster plantation).
I almost had an ounce of sympathy for him until you realise he has travelled through numerous safe countries, subjected the truck driver to a potential £10,000 fine and his actions cause hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of damage to the haulage companies travelling to the UK.
I have some sympathy for that point of view, but he served with the British army, spoke English and because of that was singled out for punishment or death, and wanted to settle there as a result.
If there had been multiple countires for me to pass through to come to France I wouldn’t have expected to be required to settle in Belgium for instance.
But the real problem is not with him it is with a government which, for some reason prevents people from applying before they get there. It is almost as if they were actively searching for a way to criminalise them.
