Does anyone have current info re supermarket diesel prices in England please?
Just wondering whether to fill up in Calais or not worth it.
About ÂŁ1.45 to ÂŁ1.50 in Oxfordshire.
You can deduct around 5p per litre for June prices.
And could I ask the price of petrol in France so I can decide to fill up at Dover or Rouen?
Yes you can ask but don’t always get
Filled up Mrs W car with 95 about 1.87e€/l
Petrol in France is much more expensive than it is in the UK.Still nearly €2/lit in France compared to £1.45 or so in UK.Diesel more expensive in France too compared to UK.Profiteering is rife here in France at the moment.
Supermarket petrol is generally under ÂŁ1.40 per gallon here, and even less in Somerset.
I paid €1,70/litre for 95 last week at Intermarché compared to €1,85/litre at my local Super U. Intermarché do sunday specials sometimes, you should see the queues. Swings and roundabouts and with holiday season approaching, prices will probably creep upwards like everything else does this time of year especially meat.
Crikey and I use 98 octane. Deffo a fill in Dover. Wish I was full electric…
I got some today at ÂŁ1.46 (near Chichester)
“Filled up” the i4 last night for under a tenner
I think our fuel prices here are pretty high. The UK is probably cheaper. Surprised we haven’t had a gilets jaune moment because of it.
Diesel pretty much exactly the same, petrol is cheaper in UK
I’m weaned off diesel these days
I use the first link/app for the UK and the second for France.
And
Essence & co
Well taking @Ancient_Mariner’s £1.50 and comparing to the 1.63 € I get here that makes it, at € 2.44, dearer in England, so perhaps better top up in Calais and add just enough in England to get back there.
Or have I got the maths wrong? I transferred £ to € at just under 1,17 the other day.
Comparing Calais and Dover are ÂŁ1.43 to ÂŁ1.52
That’s €1.67 at Calais at the rate I got last week, not today with the £ descending again. However it is the comparison that is important to me, not the exchange rate. While I am in England I will use my English credit card exclusively which is paid for from my English bank account.
I am not sure how much difference 0.006 exchange rate will make to your refuel.
I used to find Calais prices a bit higher the closer to the ferry you were, I used to fill up further down the A16 at Marquise. I think there is less difference now prices are higher.
I am arriving in Calais hours before my train leaves in order to eat away from the terminal, so may top up there, but maybe not as I will pass the Super U in Rouen on the way up which has always been cheap and leave it till the one fill, which I’ll have to make anyway, in England.
