Exemption of CFE

Dear All,



Hi, I'm new to this site and forum. I just started my own enterprise as auto-entrepreneur using the micro-fiscal system. I've read in lots of places that I am exempt from paying CFE for the first couple of years and that also you need to apply by Dec 31st.



But, and here's the question, how do I apply for exemption. I can't find a form or anything anywhere. I really don't need a big bill turning up cos I didn't do something I'm supposed to.



Any advise or links gratefully received ;-)

Our B&B is setup as an Entreprise Individuelle, and we have been exempted from CFE because the house is also our principal residence. I interpret that next year we will have to pay the minimum 210 €.

"Les autoentrepreneurs domiciliés fiscalement au lieu de leur habitation (c'est à dire la quasi totalité) et qui ne disposent d’aucun local seront bien imposés sur une base minimum."

From my reading of it I would say yes but this could all change again by this time next year!!

I paid it last year and it was around 600€ so not horrific but very nice not to have to pay this year!

Dumb question - does that mean that if I started my business in October 2013, they will count 2014 as my second year in which I'm operating and charge me CFE?

The exemption has been extended to everyone for this year and then next year a sliding scale of charges are being introduced and the three year exemption is being scrapped. A good source of official info is the Federation of AE's site FEDAE

You can pay to become a member of the FEDAE which does bring other benefits but the website is also free to browse so no need to dig into your hard earned cash :)

Believe that if you do returns paying tax monthly / three months - rather than waiting until the end of the year to pay the tax, you are exempt for three years. However, whether they are going to change CFE at all at the mo is not known. I don't think you need to write anything... I haven't for this year.

Thanks Wendy. So, you never had to fill anything out, it was just automatic?

After being auto ent for 3 years I received a bill last year. I wrote and asked for exception and "they" then decided the full was void and they weren't introducing it. This year no bill has been sent and I understand again, they have decided it's not going to happen. www.startbusinessinfrance.com is the best place to find out info on auto ent stuff...
