French walking app

Hi,

We walk a lot and use OS Maps in the UK. Just wondered if there was a similar French app that anyone would recommend.

We’re staying in a little place just outside another little place near Chatillon Sur Indre.

I’ve never used it, but i found this:

If you are familiar with OS maps then IGN will suit you well. Because we walk all over France we have a copy of the digital version which covers all of France and from which you can print whatever area you wish.

I use alltrails and komoot apps, and use them for both plotting my own routes plus following routes that have been uploaded.

We use visorando, with the IGN base layer rather than their facsimile (12€). As above for plotting our own routes, as well as following ones prepared by other visorando’ners.

Thanks, everyone. I’ll try those out! Pete

I use Visorando as well. Does everything that I need.

Thanks everyone. I tried them all and went for Visorando, as it seemed the most similar to OS maps.

Appreciate the advice.

And another vote for Visorando

Thanks, Des. That’s got me over any buyer’s remorse. I went for the premium version because you get a nicer kind of person using that, apparently.:smiley:

I also like the reviews of walks on visorando…went on one today where a review complained about having to lift his 50kg dog over a style. Our dog does agility so we reckoned we would be ok. No. Had to lift a wiggling, protesting 30kg dog over the barbed wire v high style, no way were we going to risk him jumping it.

We should have paid more attention to the review!!

Fortunately our cat will be staying at home! App seems great.
