Sold out. Holiday cottage in May this year, when should the taxes stop we had been paying them by direct debit for ten years no problem thought they would finish in October. Been paying one at E18 and one at E16. Noticed today a one for E18 has been taken out. We agreed to pay this years taxes but thought they would have stopped last month.
Why would they stop in October? Taxes run January to December.
My next lot of direct debits for TF starts January upto October inclusive - this is the first time I have ever paid by DD as previously the total never came to more than €250 for the year, with this house its €1350/year.
I have never paid this way but I thought the final payment was an adjustment made after the bills are issued?
Just wondered why one has stopped but not the other, only a holiday cottage UK residents?
When were taxe d’habitation bills issued? My theory is that the final payment cannot be calculated and taken until bills have been issued and the exact amount is known. And I seem to recall that the bills for tdh are issued a month or two later than the taxe fonc bills?
If you are officially resident and its your main residence, then Habitation tax was phased out but Foncières is the local tax and everyone who is an owner pays that regardless unless exempt via the fisc. Holiday homes are regarded as a luxury item or non residency so have to pay both.
Quite common to pay in 10 instalments not 12. Check on you espace particulier or look at the paper bill you received earlier as should say what the break down of payments will be.
