I fell in the river today

Yes tripping and falling is one thing, it’s what’s in the way that’s the problem. Fortunately for me it has been the relatively soft landing in the forest a few times, and then, the river  ,

When I arrived to live in my French home at the age of 50, I was sweeping the upper floor of my 2-story barn garage and stepped onto a trapdoor size repair in the oak floorboards. Later learned it was damp chipboard through which I disappeared to the concrete ground floor below, and landed somehow with a somersault and a thump, onto my back. It was about 5.30pm and took myself to bed straight away fully dressed, but I was completely unscathed! I’d be dead I think if it had happened yesterday.

On the matter of Leclerc and sim cards - having replaced my old phone with new, the old sim card is too big to fit. I have a Reglo account and know that the local Leclerc is where to get my current phone number transferred onto a new smaller sim card that will fit my new phone. But where in Leclerc – their main info desk?

Sciatica asks - I don’t want to traipse about in a huge hypermarket!

If it does not already have pre-formed partial cuts through the plastic where you can break it away to get a smaller SIM, you can buy a gadget to cut them down, or try the closest repair shop who probably already have said gadget.

We have a David & Goliath here - every thing is getting smaller.

In the one I went to yesterday, Trelissac, it is to one side of the main entrance marked over quite a long building Cultural Centre I think it was. Once inside you look round for the telephone desk.

Very helpful, I played the confused old man card (always works with younger females ), and she searched the tiny print on the letter I had copied to find my number and then, opened it up and installed the sim. You will need a piece d’identite as well, I showed her my CdS. :grinning:

I shall pop along later today with my ID card, and I think I need a recent bill of some kind showing my name and address. Leclerc says I can choose to communicate by phone or email. I emailed as it easier to understand the written language than the spoken, over the phone. Leclerc’s email reply was ‘please phone them’!

The SIM is just the white bit at the bottom - it looks like it is the right size anyway.

@Bonzocat - I’m with @billybutcher here. You don’t need to get a new SIM, that one in the old holder will fit in the new one (& it can only go in one way).

I’m a complete dunderhead! About SIM cards, and much more probably! I mistook the apparent size of the old SIM card holder, compared to the new SIM card holder, aggravated by the 64GB SanDisk in the old holder – what’s that for? All that Leclerc did was to remove the old SIM card and place it into the new SIM card holder, which I could have done myself!

Bugger!

At least it’s sorted

Additional storage for files, pictures. Music etc.

That’s one of my favourite tricks David. I always end my question to the men in the Bricos with ‘thank you, young man’ and it’s never failed me yet!

Slight thread drift . I often go to the Hyper U at Trelissac, not to get SIM cards but to eat in Le Medallion restaurant there. It’s a real surprise. It’s part of the supermarket complex inside one of the entrances but is the best supermarket restaurant I’ve ever eaten in. The food is good value and there is a huge choice on their menu. I’ve had everything from their plat du jour to their Burger Medallion in which the meat part was a beautifully cooked magret de canard with chips and a salad. Their cafe gourmande is one of the best I’ve ever had. The cherry on the cake is that they serve throughout a long lunchtime, no, on mange à midi there. It always makes me smile because every time I see the road signs to Trelissac I think it should be in Cornwall.

Ah but young men in my experience always have a bit of a yen for older women (not that I am saying you are older ) or maybe that was just me. Fran always used to tell people that I always fancied a 40 year old as a lad, but I had to wait 'till I was 40 'till I got one.

Not sure that it works the other way round though. Young women seem to see old men as, err, old men. Not that I have tested that you understand. :innocent:

@David_M_Matthews

Yes me too. :grinning:

In our Leclerc there is a place near tge main entrance where they sell phones etc. Try that.

When I photograph weddings I address any grandfathers present as “young man” - it perks them up!

Mind you I’m in the grandfather category myself nowadays (although i don’t have any kids or grandkids) - it’s hard to remember that, mentally I’m about 17!

Found it thank you! In Espace Technologie in the Leclerc Mall. I bought both my early phones from here around 2012/2015, or thereabouts.

My first mobile phone was Sagem My511X followed by my little favourite the Samsung clam phone E1190, which you could clasp unseen in your hand. Tiny. And you could buy replaceable batteries. Can still buy them I think.

Only go to Espace Technologie now, occasionally, to browse…

I have to face up to being that age. I’m going to spend a few days with my granddaughter in a few days. I haven’t seen her since the summer when she was pretty inactive but now at almost a year she’s pretty mobile. I can’t wait.

You’ll enjoy it… I have two grand-nieces (I think that’s the right terminology - my sister’s son’s children) and saw them at New Year. They do grow up fast.

I have nine great niece / nephews and one great great nephew. And I haven’t got to UK retirement age yet.
