For anyone who hasn’t managed to arrange their Linky installation here’s a wake up…
In brief, if you haven’t yet had the upgrade & you haven’t submitted a reading in 2022 you will be charged 8,30€ HT every two months (49,80€ HT per year) from 01/01/2023, regardless of who your energy supplier is.
Even if you have managed to send in a reading from your old meter in 2022 (& continue to do so in 2023 & 2024) you will eventually be subject to this charge from 01/01/2025 i.e. the ultimate deadline for getting a Linky without having to pay a fine is 31/12/2024.
We’ve got our Linky being installed on Monday, at the crack of dawn (08.00hrs). We don’t usually get up until about 09.00hrs as we’re late to bed (usually around 02.00-02.30am).
We’re hoping it won’t take too long - we possibly remember being told the electric will be off for around an hour.
If the meter is easily accessible & the supports are OK then your power should only be off for no more than half an hour. Other fiddling/programming/testing can take up the rest of an hour.
Our guy came at 9.10am and was done and dusted by 9.20am. Couldn’t believe it would have been that quick.
Didn’t understand whether the electric meter will still need to be read by Seolis (our electric supplier) as the guy didn’t speak a word of English but that’s no major problem.
Just hope our Fibre installation goes as smoothly on Thursday.
One of the major benefits of a Linky is that you no longer need a visit from a meter reader as it’s all logged remotely. It also means an end to estimated bills & you can also have monthly bills if you want.
You can also follow your consumption by using the ENEDIS app, or Hello Watt.
hello Badger, I thought that the onus was on Enedis to get in touch with us in order for them to change our old elec meter to a new Linky. sounds as if we should get in touch with them via the english speaking helpline, thanks for the info. Are you the Badger who used to post items on the old Anglo Info for Normandy??
