Ireland travel

I try to space out all of my requests for help… but this is twice in a week… forgive me… Can anybody help with the 90 day rule… ? Back in February this year I went to Ireland for a holiday for 4 weeks, I am going again in October for another 4 weeks. I have had one 10 day break in UK but have another 10 day booked for Christmas… It has just dawned on me that this is getting pretty close to the 90 day limit that I think I understand that I am allowed… My husband and I are still here on a visa with a CdS and we are now approaching our 3rd year… Am I correct in my assumption on all of this… I have trawled through previous threads but not found anything just yet… Thank you.

As I understand it, the 90 day rule does not apply to Ireland. I cannot see the Irish govt kicking visitors out, but I am sure there is something in place that prevents one visiting and ending up living there… :grinning:

The 90 days is a Schengen Area limitation and Ireland isn’t part of Schengen.

In fact not - Brits can move freely between the UK and Ireland, including living and working there under the Common Travel Area rules.

Hi Jane… let’s put your mind totally at rest…

Even if Ireland was part of Schengen… your visits are absolutely fine…

I’ll try and find the link which shows the “rolling 90 days/180 days” and you can see what I mean…

Meanwhile… deep breath… relax… all is well !!! :+1:

thanks guys!!! thats really helpful… I can relax now… :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

The reason Ireland isn’t is in Schengen is because of the Common Travel Area. No time in Ireland counts. :slightly_smiling_face:

Quite so, John… sorry if my words made it sound otherwise…

I was trying to explain to @janewalker55 that she seemed to be miscalculating/misunderstanding the 90/180 days thingy
