The humour also helps manage my disgust and disappointment that they really don’t care about the awful cruelty and loss of life - it’s not as if they even have to keep voters on board now.

America will now be putting immense power into the hands of a man with proven and demonstrated psychopathic characteristics. Using practically unlimited powers of the office to surround himself with equally odious sycophants, there will be no one left to balance the crazy.
More importantly there appears to be no one to balance the crazy killer Netanyahu.
Trump might be able to stand against him if he thinks it’s in his best interests, but he’s just as likely to hug him and write a blank cheque.
If all the Arab nations stood together, they might put the brakes on, but that’s even less likely than Trump.

There’s an arrest warrant out for Netanyahu, and Gallant, I believe, today from the ICC.
As a US citizen, it is maddening and stunning and infuriating how much the admin is caving to Netanyahu. And how 47 (I do not use his name) will probably do so, even more. I truly do look forward to socking myself away in a smallish French town, getting my history and nature geek on, immersing myself in upping my French language skills, taking local classes and such, and ditching the 24/7 dumpster fire that is US politics. (Yeah, I know, I know, Europe/France has it’s own political stuff, but still…)
