haha I’m a Meteo watcher and there’s two dry days ahead here (Dept 47) so it’s everything washed and on the line and all the dry-day jobs that need to be done. Trying to pluck up the courage to go into the loft where we have exposed beams and roof tiles - I know one of the tiles has slipped so there’s a leak when it rains. I can probably pull up, from inside, the roof tile and secure it … but if it slips further and takes another one with it, then I’m slightly stuffed and would need to call someone out. Do I take this chance or not? Or just think "oh well it’s just a gap and prepare for the inevitable drip-drip-drip sound throughout winter (groundsheet and bucket in the loft ready).
Our last house in UK was almost a ruin when we bought it… and for the first couple of winters we had buckets etc strategically placed… the windows leaked only when the rain was driving really hard… but we had to wait a few more years before those got replaced… It’s surprising what you can learn to live with… if you love the place…
Well I would have been cutting down a tree that is half over once the frost had cleared, BUT, best laid plans and all that.
Will now have to go to our big town 60 kms away to return a defective bike carrier that was bought yesterday
It was in a pack and when we went to assemble it a part is missing !
I got a pair of workman’s boots delivered from Amazon yesterday, about six sizes to small. Dainty fairy boots with steel toe caps and soles. 'Sure" I ordered pointure 43 not 39.
Tried to download a yard-long e-address to arrange to send them back, link opened but resisted all attempts to open form and print return label. Relay depot in distant town anyway.
Hid box under chair to protect blood-pressure, and thought of giving useless boots to Emmaus ditto.
Also ordered logs didn’t arrive. “Totally sure” I’d said Friday afternoon delivery, and told my wife I was absolutely certain I didn’t misunderstand the merchant. Back to square one with my “I was wrong” conversion, but at least it was only 24 hours before the penny dropped
With her usual extraordinary kindness she offered to buy them if they fitted her tiny feet, and they fitted like Thames barges. But she saw my disappointment and wanted to lift it. Aaaaaaaah!
