Masks - Migrated

Seems to be speculation rather than something for which there is hard data - but if it is truly “a thing” it’s a shot in the arm for those of us who have been promoting the wearing of masks all along.

Nigel - what do you actually think about this report, given that you aren’t  one of those who has generally advocated the wearing of masks?

Paul - You are confusing me with someone else - I absolutely support the wearing of masks!

I think it’s @anon30081639 you’re thinking of Paul.

Yes - that is confusing - not only two Nigels but very similar avatars!

Wouldn’t it be convenient if we could just upload a photograph of ourselves…

I’m finding that they are nice on windy days as keep you a bit warmer…

bloody nightmare coming out of the cold in to a warmer building as they fog up my glasses…

I’ve reached a point (to my mild surprise) that I have incorporated the mask into my Covid-era body image, and no longer notice it most of the time. I take care to pinch the wire so it configures my schnozzle and doesn’t slip down.

That 'push-it-up" reflex so common amongst TV media correspondents is beginning to get on my nerves.

Given that the numbers are going in the wrong direction in the UK I am absolutely astonished that the UK news programmes are STILL showing people without a mask wandering around crowded shopping streets. Our local town has had signs up on every road into town for weeks saying “Porter Masque Obligatoire”. And people are adhering - even though the streets are wide and rarely busy.
We walked our dogs (outside town) along the canal tow path at the weekend. One woman came off the tow path - no-one else in sight - wearing a mask.
Fortunately round here everyone now seems to be taking this seriously.

Me too Peter. And the “below the nose” brigade. Those noses are getting to me. I find them to be mostly elderly gents’ noses, but not exclusively.

Just watched BBC news and the discussion about moving into tier 4. Video of busy shopping street somewhere. Most wearing masks it’s true. Woman walking towards the camera, no mask, she pinched and rubbed her nostrils with her bare hands. UGH! No doubt that hand will shortly be used to enter her PIN code on a card reader in a shop. I feel sorry for anyone who uses it after her!

Watching Animaux d’Adopter on C8 at the moment featuring an SPA at Moree and I am struck by the fact that everyone, visitors and staff, is wearing see through plastic masks. They are open at the top and sides but rest on the chin below.

Never seen them before, can’t believe they are recommended but at least better than nothing. But as absolutely everyone is wearing identical masks, are they issued by the SPA on entry I wonder?

That’s what our baker wears…

I never knew there was a town here called that - I bet it is a bit different to it’s name sake in Oz!!! Waaaaaaaayyyyyy out bush, edge of the outback! I went to boarding school with a few kids from out there!

I think @vero was wearing that sort of mask for a while and I’ve seen a butcher here with one too.
