Bonjour all. We are in the process of trying to sort out a mutuelle. Does anyone have experience of using the My Health France Plan via April International on Fabian’s insurance site?
I used to be with April, but as an employee, so can’t comment on that specific health plan, but I always found April to be a fairly good mutuelle.
Separately from the actual cover, you might want to check up on their online security setup if that is a potential concern to you, as they suffered an attack back in 2021 which took their services off line for a while. I don’t remember whether any customer information was actually leaked. Unfortunately, other insurance companies (especially health insurance) or brokers have also been attacked in more recent years. One of the biggest problems with these providers websites was the lack of any multifactorial identification, meaning that the attackers just script bombed the login portals with identifiers and password combinations that had been exfiltrated from previous hacks elsewhere.
We are with April, but just with a hospital policy. It seems to have done what it should do in terms of paying out, not that we have called on it very much (approx once every two years!). The only issue we had earlier this year with a claim being rejected we sorted out quickly on the phone and all was well.
we are with April trough Fabian - so far had not many claims. Our policy covers hospital and the 30% not covered by CPAM.
I paid extra for cataract sugery as the opthalmo was a cat2 surgeon. I also opted for non standard lenses.
But all in the insurance is good and pays out within a week…
Now that interests me! I’m having cataract surgery in December as an add-on to other eye surgery and no one yet has mentioned the lenses. Is that something discussed on the day?
(Our hospital policy covers dépassments)
my opthalmo gave me a list of optional lenses
I hate wearing glasses and would have had to continue with either reading or driving glasses if I had taken the standard option…
I opted for ‘varifocal’ lenses - basicall the lens version of varifocal glasses. They have been brilliant once I got over the glare… now just need sunglasses on very bright days.
Paid 450 per eye as surgeon was cat2 and the lenses were about 400 er eye extra.
Discuss beforehand as the need to be ordered.
Thanks for that info
I concur with Bettina’s review. My husband’s April experience was exactly the same, varifocal photochromatic glasses afterwards and all. Seperately, his accidentally lost dental crown was also fully covered for replacement.
For us, Fabien’s arranged cover with April has hitherto been faultless.
Thank you everyone for sharing your experiences
