Got an email from AXA the other day about the disappearance of Carte Verte insurance docs and the apparent need/advice to get a new Memo Vehicle Assure.
Booked some space in my busy schedule and settled down to go through the motions. It soon turned out that that double meaning was appropriate because it certainly is a pain in the bum.
I followed the steps and soon got to a space to enter a 6 digit code that would arrive in my inbox. After what seemed like ages, nothing had happened and so I got on with other stuff and came back to it about 15 minutes later, entered the code only to be told that it had expired, after only 5 minutes.
So I did it all again, same story, got tangled with something else and bingo, another disappearing trick. It won’t let me do it a 3rd time.
I have sent an email to the agent after battling with their email address. Apparently you can’t click an email address anymore, something to do with Windows or Outlook I think. But I did manage to copy and paste and get it off. My question is, do I really need this document now, or can I simply wait until the renewal date in August, when presumably they will send me one anyway?
Groupama just emailed me a document that I printed out. Yes you need to carry a copy with you as a backup in case you are stopped and the law can’t access your vehicle on their gismos.
But if you are stopped before the next renewal they will have all the green stuff to go on, won’t they? After that, as I said before, won’t they then provide one automatically?
Anyway, I’ll see if they come back to me on it. But aren’t there still people who don’t have smartphones, computers or any other access to the internet? One route that was offered to me involved Android and something else I don’t have. Apple summat I think.
The agents came back almost as soon as I finished that last post. Both cars’ MVAs in attachments, soon printed off and now safely installed in the car.
Who in the hell at AXA towers thought that the anguish they put me through over half an hour or so was a good idea. Madness.
I am a dinosaur when it comes to hard proof of things and like to print out and keep that proof handy in most things. Electronic gadgets fail or get broken or simply don’t want to play ball but a printed paper with the details won’t let you down.
My only concern with the new Axa certificate is that it is an Attestation of insurance but before the green card that went with the vignette listed the countries where the insurance was valid. I must ask if I need additional paperwork before taking the car abroad. The vehicles that I have insured with MMA still have green cards issued for them.
