Hi we will be retiring to France on the 10th July,we have just been informed that our electricity has been cut off,due to a late payment by previous owners. They paid Bill 2 months after we bought the house.for our first 5 days after arriving we will be without Electricity.this we will have to cope with, but will we have to pay a connection fee,as it is not our fault.
Electricity is often cut off like this & as you are new customers it should be put on without you paying a reconnection fee. You will pay about 60 euros for a new contract, though. Every time you change your electricity requirements such as increasing the available power it involves a new contract & another 60 euros!
Enjoy your new house.
Thanks. we will play it by ear when we get there.we had not thought of going through the notaire. Bill
As Sheila has said I would contact the notaire.
Is the supply now in your name? If so, I would suspect that if you want a supply you will have to pay up and try to claim back any costs incurred via the notaire.
Probably not you wanted to hear, but I wish you success and hope you enjoy your new life in France.
Did you try contacting the notaire?
