We are currently paying Orange 30 EUR pm for an ancient 4mbs connection. Surprisingly, it works reasonably well for our occasional needs. Last year I was surprised I didn’t need to unsuspend the Ligne Fixe at all but I guess the connection is independent.
Anyone know what their current fibre offer costs? Presumably they have to run it from the apartment building into the flat?
I’ll be in France in a couple of weeks and wondered what I could investigate for a reliable no commitment alternative? Is it a 4G Router, for example, and testing whether the signal is strong enough. etc.?
Oh those halcyon days whe you could suspend the line between visits
Cheers
M
Our Orange Fibre contract at home is 50,99 EUR/month.

Thanks but, gosh, I don’t think we’ll be doing that for only occasional visits!

Good grief. Please see my recent topic…
I know that Orange (& therefore it’s cheaper offering, Sosh) are often a source of complaint & ridicule by many people on & off this forum so, for once, I’d like to tell a positive story.

Although we (nor my nearest neighbour) never received a direct notification that fibre was now on offer I did notice it was an option when organising the swap of our Livebox after it got fried by lightning 4 weeks ago.
I finally got around to applying for fibre (via Sosh’s website) on a Wednesday evening, 23/08/2023. I had instant acknowledgment of my order, & asked to set a rendezvous for the connection, which could have been as early as the following Wednesday! Due to a previous commitment I pushed that to the following …

Have you checked here?
Does that include any mobile phones or TV bouquets?

Actually, even a faster cheaper ADSL might do, but if I arrive and there are tech probs that’s no good. At least I know that Orange works.
Anyone know these people for temp internet?

Ouch.
Had a look at Starlink?
It’s still just a tad expensive for me at 40pm. But for heavy users gotta be worth a look?
Couple of very recent threads on here.

We’ve got calls to mobiles outside of France, included in that as an extra, which is why it is more than the default.
