Five years but three suspended. Seems very lenient to me.
I agree, especially the French practice of suspended and non-suspended sentences. Was it a guilty plea, do you know?
Interesting to see it’s pretty similar in effect to how a similar UK sentence would work out, once you factor in parole (I calculate it’s an A1 offence): Causing serious injury by dangerous driving – Sentencing
I think he did plead guilty. He was fortunate that the baby being carried by one of the injured was unborn and not considered to be a “person”. So no death by dangerous.
I have followed this since it happened. No sympathy for Palmade whatsoever, he knew the risk of driving under the influence of drugs/alcohol but chose to do it. I think it was too lenient and he should have spent the whole five years in prison but he will probably lose his beautiful home to pay compo which I didn’t hear mentioned on the news although they showed it the other night. Thats the end of his career too I would think.
Lucky man, deserved more imo.
