Posting a small box from France to UK

Hi I want to send some old wooden cups and saucers to the UK are the any problems I need to worry about?

What’s the value? Maybe VAT and duty to be paid by the recipient?

Make sure you fill in the customs form carefully, marking it as a gift but adding a small value. (Otherwise it can get opened and you pay extra)

You’ll need to fill out a customs declaration online, print it off and attach at least one copy to the package inside of a document wallet.

Parcel Monkey have been pretty useful as they show you prices for the various courier firms based on the weight, dimensions and value of what you’re sending.

Thank you all it does not seem worth the hassle, it appeared to be a good idea at the time best-laid plans and all that!

Best way would be if someone travelling to the UK were to drop it in the post while there.

Woodworm?

I priced up DHL and Collissimo for the return to UK seller of a duff laptop. DHL €36. C/issimo €24.

Arrived in good order :grinning:

Going the other way  Samples A4 printing papers from Fotospeed UK - a box as a slim jiffy bag. Arr’d last week. No paperwork.

Today, a bill from DHL … €11 TVA + €5 frais de dossier + €1 TVA [frais de dossier]

I read that the UK O.B.R. has it that 60% of the negative consequences of BREXIT are yet to come.

Who’d a thought it?

I’d personally go with DHL—they’ve always been consistent for me, plus I had some negative experiences with Colissimo in the past. It’s also worth considering Ecms Express . Even though it’s a bit less known, I’ve heard it’s pretty reliable, and it might offer a more cost-effective alternative. Always good to have options when looking for reliable shipping
