Posting an announcement on leboncoin-free or not?

Google Chrome.

It shouldn’t but I’ve found that it often does - equally using a certain combination (eg chrome on an ipad or safari on a phone) might not work and changing this fixes the bug.

If you don’t get anywhere send me the information, advert text and all your contact details etc etc and I will post it for you from my account over the weekend.

Thank you for the information and your kind offer. I’ll give it a go.

Out of the blue this morning I was finally contacted by the seller (only 2 weeks on!).

I was speaking to a friend last night who advised not to bother with buying a car from Le Bon Coin as all of the ones she has seen are in very bad condition which wasn’t shown on the photos. She recommends sticking to a main dealer.

I have to work out whether it is worth a flight (Stanstead to Lourdes) to have a look at it or just not bother. Flights are cheap, Car is near Tarbes.

It’s difficult for any of us… buying sight-unseen (apart from photos), unless one has a friend who knows about cars… and who is able to inspect the car itself…

There is a great deal that cannot be found/spotted… simply from seeing photos…:wink::face_with_raised_eyebrow:

You have probably found that cars are quite expensive privately and more expensive from a dealer than can be bought in the UK.
Don’t treat it any differently than you would in the UK. Know what you want, the price you are willing to pay and how flexible you will be over undisclosed damage.
Look at left hand drive dealers in the UK. There are many on sites such as Autotrader and Exchange and Mart. I found an advert in A&M containing several French registered vehicles all with the same telephone number. It turned out to be Pinewood Studios and the cars on offer (all French registered and left hand drive) included a Smart car and a Renault Vel Satis. They had been used in The Da Vinci Code. Some had damage and I declined, but I wished later on that I had bought at least the Vel Satis as it was less than half the price of them here!
Three years ago I was looking for a small left hand drive car for our daughters to learn in. I bought one from the Left Hand Drive Place in Basingstoke. The dealership said they didn’t know when the cam belt was last changed, so that was being done with the service. It would also be MOT’d. I decided to buy it and paid a deposit. The service and cambelt was done and when it was submitted for the MOT, it required four new tyres, a back box to the exhaust, new discs and brakes and some other minor parts. All of this was done, documented and the details sent to me. I called and thanked them. The response was, ‘You win some, you lose some. We won’t let a car leave here in an unroadworthy condition.’ With an attitude like that I would buy another car from them without hesitation. The UK MOT was transferable to here, but obviously only valid for a year. It had its second Control Technique here in May. It sailed through again with no work and no advisories. In 3 1/2 years it has covered 40,000 kms including several return trips to the UK (1100kms each way) and only needed a new starter motor and this Summer a new battery. The car was a Peugeot 206 diesel, with several extras including aircon. It had a few knocks, but we weren’t worried about that. 166,000 km at the time and a late 2004 5 door model. It’s very economical.
Our other two cars are RHD and we had no trouble registering them, nor any other RHD car that we have had since being here. We don’t mind that as on narrow roads it’s nice to be able to see how close your are to the ditch!
Another place to look for a car would be Holland or Belgium. Both considerably cheaper than France and you will find some dealers prepared to deliver to you at a price.

Good luck with whatever you choose.

Thanks Paul, it is good to hear of a company with very good customer service.

Their prices seem comparable to France - their website could do with an overhaul.
