A really easy recipe to make a delicious dessert from common ingredients, from scratch, in under 10 mins (I timed it). Stop video at an early frame to note the whole recipe.
looks delicious
although Iâd make that with some of my homemade jam instead of honey/syrupâŚ
Maybe one for winter rather than August
But the finished product in the video looks very little like the initial picture.
Thatâs because honey and panko was used as a topping in the video. The last shot was a photo of the same thing but with just a syrup topping. [pedantic eye rolling emoji]

Whereâs the baitânâswitch emoji?
Are you suggesting that I am sneakily trying to sell something? For me, cooking is a hobby. I have collected many recipes over the years and like to share them because people often come back with ways to improve them or even suggest a completely new recipe.
I have nothing to sell. Any videos I make are obviously very amateur, usually done on a cheap smartphone in one take with some very basic editing. I usually call them âWarts n Allâ to emphasise that fact. The lack of advertising should demonstrate that they are not monetised. I abhor the current trend of screwing revenue out of pathetic content such as seen on Trick Tock.

No.
I was not aware that the video was yours, having just watched it embedded. But I have found that sometimes people will present something attractive - the cover image - as though it were theirs when actually they could not reproduce it themselves. Because the picture fronting the video was of a pudding very different in appearance and more attractive than the pudding produced in the video it was immediately questionable, hence bait & switch. It is better to be consistent.
I was only trying to share a recipe - not show off my (non existent) video skills. Iâm sorry you were disappointed.
Iâm neither pleased nor disappointed, rather explaining why I used the expression âbait and switchâ.
Should I have been effusive in my praise at the ingenuity shown instead? Well done Mike, fantastic idea, how ever did you invent that, I canât wait to try it! etc. Your video skills were entirely adequate for the job in this case, even managing to run a timer in the corner.
Iâm rubbish at making desserts.
Itâs probably because I never went to sundae schoolâŚ

Right, guinea pig here - thought Iâd give it a try. Observations:
My egg only weighed around 42g, but the mixture was much runnier than yours.
Possibly as a result of the above, plus using a different microwave (power may be important) the centre did not cook, even after 5min, and liquid bubbled over the side of the dish.
Observation by my wife âwhatâs that smell, itâs very unpleasantly eggy?â. Obviously opinions on this will vary, and it may be connected to using a lower power microwave.
The solid residue of the pudding tasted OK, though it was going dry and hard about 30min after preparation and leaving to cool. Iâd suggest the recipe may require a bit more understanding in order to pass on successfully. Please donât take this badly - I know how hard it is to pass on a method to other individuals that donât have the same equipment and materials to hand.
I suspect it might be the microwave power. Mine says it is 1000W (but that doesnât mean it definitely is) and it gives good results. I can calibrate temperature but calibrating microwave power is beyond me. At least you gave it a go.
This is an old model, so probably puts out 2/3 of that at best.
AFAIK microwaves produce the power stated, obvioulsly after a bit of wear and tear this reduces as AM said but they have settings like 30%,50% etc this is the amount of time they are energised and not actually a reduction in power.
Thatâs a good point. I have 6 settings on my microwave from 1000W to 100W but I mostly only use the 1000W.
Any recipes I am given I just treat as a guide. I tend to note amounts, settings and times as I progress. If it works it goes in my recipe book (just an organised Word file). This continually changes as I tinker with recipes.
Mine never last that long! The grandkids love making and eating it.
This one was probably only 650w when new.
No you dont, you have settings that reduce the time the microwaves are on.
I was referring to the labels on the buttons.
