Refusing banking services to Farage

She was interviewed by a journalist you mean?

According to Reuters “Rose said she had not revealed any personal financial information about Farage in her discussions with Jack and had answered a general question about eligibility criteria required to bank with Coutts and NatWest.”

Unwise and unprofessional on her part, for which she’s paid the price. No need for faux outrage though.

I can’t help but think that if only the UK government and right wing press were so keen to hound water company CEOs then maybe there wouldn’t be so much shit being pumped into the UK’s rivers.

And I also see Farage is now calling for the whole Board to resign. He really is a cockwomble!

That’s not the word I’d choose :rage:

Or water peeing out of leaky pipes.

Fact is he did come out with some pretty damming information irrelevant whether he is a womble or not. And how many of the incumbent “govt” are now re-assesing their banking arrangements. As they say “follow the money”. If this had been Starmer or Raynor would the furor been the same or would the “lefties” just let it go.

Again, on R4, someone else who had previously been an MP and was no longer knew that both themselves and their family had their banking scrutinised because the were still considered ‘politically exposed’. And if I heard correctly, they also had their French bank account closed for this reason. It seems that entering politics can have far reaching consequences in ways many would not imagine.

It seems Dame whatever has also lost 2 other jobs as well. That little tete a tete over dinner went down well.

A No. 10 spokesperson said: “Following her resignation as CEO of NatWest Group, the Government has confirmed that Alison Rose is no longer a member of the Prime Minister’s business council”.

Well, she’s single-handedly set back women’s equality at the top of UK PLC for another 10 years.

The joy was hearing over and over the discussion of the toad’s unsuitability. The lady was foolish indeed to risk provoking such a powerful person. I hope the source of the leaked minutes is uncovered and that he or she is dismissed. Let the best man win? Not applicable here - just pond life. Apologies to other pond creatures.

Which was the point that I raised earlier in the discussion, but @billybutcher thinks it wouldn’t be justified. I disagree.

More that I thought that the number of people living in the EU and wanted to pay their pension into a UK account so as to optimise conversion to € and who hadn’t either retained their old UK account or who would not be able to open a Wise (or similar) multi-currency account would be tiny, potentially even zero.

Wise et al are not banks though so funds are not safe. Even Revolut’s application for a banking licence has just been turned down.

Why is it that whenever I see Farage on TV (C4 news just now) I have an overwhelming urge to “damage” him?:rofl:

Feel the same about Starmer and his woman sidekick :joy::flushed::+1:

Me too. I doubt he ventures out without a bodyguard

“There is a real sense of disquiet that political pressure has led to a midnight exit for such an important banking CEO,”

If the fool Sunak put his oar in entirely unnecessarily to pressure for Rose’s resignation, it seems entirely plausible that the next step will be Farage getting his Coutts account back. Absolutely stinks.

Why does it stink if

“Banks are private businesses and can offer, or refuse, accounts to whoever they like”?

Meanwhile the snivelling shit kicks for touch on hepatitis compensation.

Because the bank isn’t deciding?

I can’t understand whether you’re not actually reading others comments on this thread or are reading them but purposely either misinterpreting them or are just ignoring them, but it’s the second time now you’ve done it to me. Perhaps I have no patience today.

I haven’t got the time to go back and check, but I am pretty sure that you thought we shouldn’t have the right to a UK account and therefore should not expect government intervention to change the status quo. Nothing to do with how many of us might want/need to take advantage of such legislation.

You also mentioned banks that do offer new accounts. While in England I spoke to 2 of them, Halifax and HSBC and both refused as soon as they knew where I lived. Nationwide also, but I already knew their position.

As has been said Wise etc. are not necessarily the same thing, neither is the one I use for conversions, TorFX as far as I know.

We are not talking about people who didn’t keep accounts open when they moved but people who have had their existing, sometimes over many years or decades, accounts closed without appeal.
