Has anyone had a good experience with[Assurance dommages-ouvrage , If so, which agency did you use? AXA told me if a new policy for Assurance Travaux won’t cover Devis I already have which makes no sense since you would need to know how much you need to be covered for before taking out an insurance policy. Etik Assurance told me to send a Devis from the contractor.
The artisan(s) you are using MUST be covered for all works by their Deçenelle Insurance and you can demand a copy of their policy if you accept their devis. Its not normal for the householder to take out further insurance for works being done officially and covered by said artisan insurance. Besides, if your house policy already has Juridique it may cover you anyway.
Thank you. I will ask to see their Decenelle Insurance.
If they refuse to give you a copy or even a policy reference, walk away and do not sign any devis as that is a legally binding contract. Their official paperwork must also show their SIRET Number, the APE number and french TVA reference, if none of this is on the paperwork, do not use.
Hello and welcome to the Forum…
Frankly, you’ve got me wondering why you might even think you need Assurance Travaux…
Who has suggested that you need this ???
that’s an interesting link…
but does this apply to the private individual who is simply bringing his place up to scratch… (like so many of us are doing… )… using registered and insured artisans for the bits which aren’t DIY… ???
Maybe, the insurance world longs to take over and run our lives, problem is they dont actually know a lot of what they speak about at the lower levels but hey that wont stop them telling you what to do.
For some reason, this thread/link reminds me of an insurance one takes out to cover any come-back from a future Buyer… but I thought that applied to major DIY which didn’t have the deccen… thingy…
Surely someone knows what’s what re this…
