Has anyone sold or bought a French property using leboncoin.fr or similar?
Was it relatively straight forward, complications, pitfalls?
Any recommendations for online website platforms for advertising and selling?
I know someone who sold via (if I remember correctly, though when I looked just now, I couldn’t find the site) housesontheinternet.com.
His was a pretty cottage in a touristy village, and he was marketing it to non-residents. It was bought by an Australian couple who promptly AirBnB-d it. He got a fair price.
And I’ve seen private sellers struggle to get sales via Leboncoin. Sometimes it’s because the property is overprices. A couple of times I’ve seen property taken on by immos and sell quickly, but I imagine if you draft a good description and take good photos it’s possible.
My family found this new house under construction and being advertised on the local LBC site on my behalf and contacted the building company immediately as it was exactly what I was looking for and in the right price range too. I now look at the local page most days and other communes around to see what is for sale and there are a lot of houses both old, new and under construction plus land for sale so yes I would put it on there. My old house went on the LBC via the Notaire and I sold within four days of people coming to view!! Obviously once you have an interested party, you get a Notaire involved to guide you through the selling process including the reports required and also vetting the other party regarding finance etc. You don’t pay anything to the Notaire, the buyers do that apart from the required inspection report(s) which are your responsability and have a limited lifespan!
Personally I would go for pap.fr rather than leboncoin as fewer scammers.
We sold and bought directly from personal ads/website. No problems.
Also your local notaire will advertise stuff.
