Siret or no siret that is the question

Can someone clarify
Is a siret number required for renting a gite or your own house out as a tourist rental
Ive conflicting advice some saying tax is declared but they arent registered as a business so dont need a siret
Or that their mairie said they dont need a siret
Could I have clarification please

It used to be that non pro rentals (LMNP) who just declared on their income tax form didn’t a siret.

This has changed and even non pro’s need to get one via the INPI site. It’s free.

Mairie’s should know the facts!!!
