Amateur photographer captures an extraordinary event
Talking of woodpeckers, when I came down to our livingroom first thing this morning I could hear a strange repeated rapid knocking sound. After listening round the room I realised it was coming through the end wall of the house, so quietly slipped out of th front door & went around the house. There was a woodpecker, hammering away at the stonework - quite impressive too, for tapping hard enough to be loud and clear through a few feet of stone.
Good photos (for that you have to be ready, and lucky!) and a good story.
This handsome bird, usually quite shy, visited the bird bath last summer. Fortunately there are no weasels here, as far as I know…
That weasel reminded me of Matt Hancock for some reason
When we both our house several of the shutters had very neat circular holes in the top halves from woodpeckers. We haven’t encountered them since.
Glad there was a happy ending…
